What do we do in foundations and structures?

The foundation is the invisible part that supports everything. Without a proper soil study and correct execution, the rest of the construction lacks guarantees. At Grupo Construcciones Alicante, we handle foundation and structural works from soil analysis to project completion, with solutions tailored to each type of project.

We carry out projects for new builds, extensions, and structural reinforcement for homes, villas, commercial premises, and industrial buildings throughout the province of Alicante.

Types of Foundations

We select the most suitable solution based on soil characteristics, structural load, and applicable technical regulations.

Isolated Footings

Common solution for point supports in residential buildings and medium-sized structures. Quick to execute and highly efficient in soils with good bearing capacity.

Strip Footings

Used under load-bearing walls or to distribute loads along a continuous line. Common in extensions and buildings on soils with heterogeneous bearing capacity.

Foundation Slab

When the ground has low bearing capacity or high variability, the slab distributes the load across the entire surface. A safe solution for areas with soft soil or high water table.

Piles and Micropiles

Deep foundation used when the surface soil does not provide sufficient resistance. Ideal for reinforcement and underpinning without major excavations.

Retaining Walls

Reinforced concrete structure designed to retain earth pressures in cuttings, basements, or steep terrain slopes.

Slabs and Pavements

Industrial slabs, ventilated slabs such as Caviti systems, and above-ground floors reinforced according to expected loads. Smooth or grooved finish depending on use.

Comparison of foundation types

When to use each solution depending on the type of project and soil conditions.

Reinforced Concrete Structures

Reinforced concrete structures are the most widely used system in residential and industrial construction due to their durability, strength, and adaptability.

Concrete Frames

Structural system made up of reinforced concrete columns and beams. The foundation of most homes, villas, and buildings in the province of Alicante.

One-Way Slabs

Slabs with joists and hollow blocks. A standard solution for residential buildings due to its ease of execution and good structural performance.

Two-Way (Waffle) Slabs

Ribbed slab in two directions. Greater capacity for large spans and reduced structural depth. Widely used in commercial premises and office buildings.

Solid Slabs

Maximum rigidity and a clean soffit finish. Suitable for areas with high concentrated loads or when minimal structural depth is required.

Concrete Walls

Load-bearing walls and reinforced concrete screens for basements, retaining structures, and structural façades. High durability against moisture and lateral pressures.

Structural Reinforcement

Interventions on damaged structures: column jacketing, beam reinforcement, foundation underpinning, and crack stitching.

Steel Structures

Steel structures offer key advantages in projects requiring large spans without intermediate columns, fast assembly, or integration with dry construction systems such as Steel Framing.

Industrial Buildings

Steel frames made of rolled steel for warehouses, production, or logistics facilities. A fast, cost-effective, and adaptable solution for any surface.

Mixed Structures

Combination of steel columns with concrete slabs. Reduces self-weight while maintaining the rigidity and durability of concrete in horizontal elements.

Steel Framing

Lightweight construction using galvanized steel profiles. Ideal for extensions, additional floors, and fast construction with minimal load on the existing structure.

Our Work Process

From the first contact to final delivery, each phase is planned to ensure safety, quality, and timely completion.

01

Initial consultation and project analysis

We receive your inquiry via WhatsApp, email, or form. Based on the site information and the planned type of construction, we assess the scope and geotechnical conditions of the area.

02

Technical site visit

We send a technician to assess the site conditions, machinery access, and surrounding constraints (adjacent buildings, services, slopes).

03

Detailed quotation and solution selection

We provide a clear quote with the recommended solution, materials, timelines, and execution phases. No hidden costs or unexpected surprises.

04

Excavation and site preparation

Earthworks, shoring if required, and preparation of the excavation base. We coordinate waste management and authorized disposal.

05

Foundation execution

Reinforcement works according to plans, formwork, and concrete pouring with strength control. We follow EHE-08 and CTE specifications at all times.

06

Structural erection

Execution of columns, beams, and slabs floor by floor with continuous technical supervision. We verify levels, vertical alignment, and concrete curing times.

07

Delivery and documentation

We deliver the completed structure with a written guarantee and the necessary technical documentation to continue with the rest of the construction.

The soil in Alicante: what you need to know

The geology of the province directly determines the type of foundation to be used. These are the most common situations we work with.

  • Expansive claysCommon in inland areas. They require foundations that extend beyond the active zone or rigid slabs that minimize differential settlement.
  • Made ground in urban areasCommon in plots within urban centers such as Alicante, Elche, or Benidorm. They may be poorly compacted and require ground improvement or piling down to firm strata.
  • Granular soils and gravelsCommon in riverbeds and basins across the province. They have very good bearing capacity but may present a risk of liquefaction in areas with a high water table.
  • Water table in coastal areasIn Santa Pola, Torrevieja, or Guardamar, the groundwater level may be shallow. Waterproofing is required and, in some cases, pumping during excavation.
  • Marls and soft rocksIn areas such as La Marina and the north of the province. Good bearing capacity but with planes of weakness that may cause slope instability.
  • Karst terrainIn limestone areas inland (Alcoy, Cocentaina). Possible subsurface cavities that must be detected in the prior geotechnical study.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost depends on the type of foundation, the surface area, and the characteristics of the soil. As a guideline, a footing-based foundation for a 150 m² single-family home may range between €8,000 and €20,000, excluding earthworks. Solutions involving piling or large slab foundations have a higher cost. The most accurate option is to request a site visit and a personalized quote.

Yes. The Spanish Building Technical Code (CTE DB-SE-C) requires a geotechnical study prior to any construction project. This study determines the soil’s bearing capacity, groundwater level, and the most suitable type of foundation. We coordinate this study with an accredited laboratory if the project requires it.

For a single-family home with ground floor plus one upper floor, the foundation usually takes between 2 and 4 weeks. The complete structure, including slabs and roof, can be completed in an additional 6 to 12 weeks. Concrete curing times are non-negotiable for safety reasons.

Yes. Underpinning and foundation reinforcement are among the services we provide. If you notice cracks in the structure, settlement, or building movement, a prior technical assessment is essential. The most common solutions include micropiles, resin injections, or enlarging the footing sections.

Yes. We carry out the full cycle: foundation, reinforced concrete structure (columns, beams, slabs), steel structures, and, if required, we also coordinate the subsequent phases of partitioning and finishes as the main contractor.

For new construction or extensions that require a major building permit, a project signed by an architect or building engineer is required. We can advise you and put you in contact with trusted professionals if you do not yet have a project.

Yes. We carry out foundations and structural works in Alicante city and throughout the province: Elche, Benidorm, Torrevieja, Orihuela, Alcoy, Villajoyosa, Santa Pola, Campello, San Vicente del Raspeig, and other locations. Contact us if your project is in an area not listed.
